Help with Telehealth
The changes and requirements for telehealth services can be overwhelming. The complexities are compounded by the technology and mobile device utilization. But there is help! The National Consortium of Telehealth Resource Centers (NCTRC) is funded by the Health and Human Services Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA). It is a collaboration of 12 regional and 2 national Telehealth Resource Centers committed to implementing telehealth programs for rural and underserved communities. At no cost to your practice, NCTRC can provide timely and accurate information on telehealth across the nation. They have resources available to help you get started, identify best practices you should follow, technology requirements, as well as operating procedures and financial planning.

Of course, we would not want to forget about the compliance side of Telehealth. The American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) has a new article, Audio-Video Telehealth, Mobile Device Management & You that focuses on information to help you track telehealth policies while addressing HIPAA compliance and mobile device management. A few of the items addressed include allowing the use of mobile devices for work, security policies if you have a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ (BYOD) philosophy, provider responsibilities for mobile device utilization for work, and registration of mobile devices used for work.
