Get to know Deena Gauthier

After seven years in the classroom, the coding industry found Deena Gauthier. Combined with her love for math and medicine and her passion for teaching, she has spent the last 13 years teaching coding and coding professionally for the ACE team.

As a graduate of the University of Maine Farmington, she aspired to be a nurse, teacher or truck driver, never thinking of medical coding as a career. Now ingrained in coding practices, Deena’s favorite part of her career is helping patients, coders, and clinicians understand healthcare billing to better engage in the industry.

Deena is passionate about medical coding and is inspired to educate the industry on billing practices. When someone asks her questions about coding or coding procedures, Deena believes she is professionally at her best.

Living in Maine, each season is very special to Deena, but currently, her favorite is the winter months. Outside work, she enjoys taking arts and crafts classes, hiking, kayaking, exploring on the ATV, listening to local bands and helping with construction projects. Deena enjoys spending time at diners and local “hole-in-the-wall” restaurants but also appreciates a tasty homemade meal.

With Deena’s training capacity and her passion for medical coding, she would advise her freshman high school self to take a leap of faith and make her own path.
