ACE Clients: We want to bring to your attention the following Contractor Advisory Committee Meeting. This is the first time we have seen a multijurisdictional CAC meeting and it looks like they may be getting ready to issue a national policy.
This will give providers insight into the experts CMS is using and their rationale for limiting utilization. ACE will be listening in on the call but as providers, it would be worth your time to attend.
Multijurisdictional CAC Meeting – Facet Joint and Medial Nerve Branch Procedures
MACs will host a multijurisdictional Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting regarding Facet Joint and Medial Nerve Branch procedures on May 28, 2020, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm CT (2:00 to 4:00 pm ET).
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain advice from subject matter experts (SMEs) regarding the strength of published evidence on Facet Joint and Medial Nerve Branch procedures. CAC members and the SME panel will vote on pre-distributed questions. Jurisdictional CAC members and the public are invited to attend as observers.
The meeting will be hosted by seven Medicare Administrative Contractors and will be held via Teleconference/Webinar.
There will be a panel of experts discussing the Facet Joint and Medial Nerve Branch procedures. CAC panels do not make coverage determinations, but MACs benefit from their advice.
Complete details will be available by May 14, 2020 (background material, questions, and agenda), on our CAC page.
As always, we are trying to stay as up to date and help you effect change instead of fighting coverage determinations after the fact. If we can do anything to help your practice in the way of coding or auditing, please give us a call.
