Donna Schlemmer, CPC - Compliance Auditor

Medical industry veteran with more than thirty years of experience in billing operations and reimbursement management and reporting; 18 years specifically in anesthesia and pain management. 

 

Employed at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO for twenty years, 1978-1998, managing the front-end processes, accounts receivables and financial reporting for the Departments of Surgery and Anesthesiology.  Other responsibilities at Washington University included provider education, managed care contract management, trend analysis, and reimbursement analysis.  Well versed in billing and accounts receivable software technology, and converted the Department of Anesthesiology at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, to the IDX billing and accounts receivable (BAR) System.  Instrumental in the development and transition of the Washington University School of Medicine into a consolidated billing operation and one of four directors selected to lead that process.

 

In 1998, formed a medical billing company exclusively for anesthesia and pain management services. Responsible for the overall operations of the medical billing company and personally directed the startup of new client services. Assisted clients with contract negotiations and financial analysis.

 

2005 to present, employed with Auditing for Compliance and Education, Inc. (ACE) as a compliance auditor.  Responsibilities include audit of billing documents to ensure compliance with carrier guidelines and required documentation, reimbursement analysis to ensure appropriate payments received, billing operations review to ensure work flow is efficient and handled according to policies and procedures. Provide reports with recommendations and comparisons to industry standards.

 

Received Certified Procedural Coding (CPC) certification in 2006.
