James Mallow, M.D., is a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist and practices anesthesia and pain management in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Mallow has enjoyed a long career as an anesthesiologist and continues to be an advocate of good patient care and documentation in the medical record. Mallow has served as the Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy and Critical Care Medicine at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City. He was Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at St. Joseph Health Center from 1979 to 1998. From 1990 to 1994 Mallow served as the Medical Director of the St. Joseph's Pain Clinic.

Mallow has served on numerous Boards including the Metro Medical Society, Lost Child Network, Midwest Bio-Ethics, Mid-America Health Network, and the St. Joseph Health Center Foundation Board. He was President of the Medical Staff at St. Joseph Health Center in 1995-96 and has been President of the Mid-America Physicians from 1996 to the present.

Currently, Mallow serves as a compliance auditor and medical director for ACE. His role includes interpreting medical records as well as instruction on medical documentation. His background allows ACE to provide true peer review.

Mallow obtained his medical degree from the University of Colorado in 1967. He did an internship at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, from 1967 to 1968. After serving in the Air Force as Commander of Attachment Four, First Medical Service Wing from 1968 to 1971, he entered a fellowship program in anesthesia at the Mayo Clinic. In 1974 he moved to Kansas City and began working at St. Luke's Hospital as the Medical Director of Respiratory Therapy and Critical Care Medicine.

Mallow's first concern has always been good patient care and believes excellent patient care includes documentation in the medical record. Retired from anesthesia, Jim enjoys golf, duck hunting, and sailing. He likes to travel and has done numerous speaking engagements for national and international organizations.
